Maura McRobbie is a Bearsden writer of Scots/Irish descent. She began writing for Child and Junior Education as a young teacher, and also the Times Educational Supplement Scotland. Working as the Educational Support Officer for STV, she wrote many Teachers Guides for schools.
She returned to full-time teaching for the latter part of her career and since retiring she has published her first novel Howth, a semi-biographical memoir, based on her grandmother. One reviewer commented: “Howth! -Romance, social and political history, and depictions of earlier Dublin and Glasgow, – not to mention Florrie, a woman well – ahead of her time. What more could I have asked for?”
Maura is continuing her fiction writing with short stories for both adults and children. She is currently working on her career memoirs, entitled Lessons Learned. It is due for publication in 2021.
