Bearsden Writers Meeting Write Up Thursday 4th November 2021

Write Up Provided By Ann Lilley

On the beautiful crisp morning of the 4thNovember, I was warmly welcomed to my first Bearsden Writers meeting at Milngavie Community Centre. This was an Open Mic session on ‘Work in Progress’ with approximately twelve members (and only one wasp) in attendance.

We heard from Myra, David, Barbara and Amanda who each explained, and read passages from their respective WIPs. This prompted lively and useful discussions about editing, choice of tense, children’s books, non-fiction writing and much more, including dogs – always a favourite topic of mine.

It was a pleasure to meet such a friendly supportive bunch of people and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

This session was a massive boost to my confidence. Thank you for the opportunity to talk through my plans. Thanks to Wilma, Grammarly is now keeping me on the straight and narrow. I have drafted a book outline but want to edit and revise it before seeking further input. Thank you, everyone, for your encouragement and comment.

Welcome, Ann. I missed this event as I was abroad. Sounds like a lively and interesting discussion.

Welcome to BW, Ann. Your blog is succinct and interesting. As you’ve said the WIP discussions were really good. Members want more Open Mics in our programme. We will try to squeeze in a few more. Thanks for writing the blog.
